John Deere Sells 300,000-SF Tennessee Asset

ATLANTA-Chattanooga-based Astec Industries buys the plant, located on 108 acres in Loudon, TN, for a price estimated by local brokers as $3.4 million or about $11 per sf.

ATLANTA-The 300,000-sf manufacturing facility of Moline, IL-based John Deere Commercial Worksite Products, Inc., located on 108 acres in Loudon, TN, has been sold to Chattanooga-based Astec Industries.

John Deere wouldn’t disclose the price but area brokers familiar with the Loudon submarket tell GlobeSt.com on condition of anonymity the estimated price is $3.4 million or about $11 per sf.

Astec will locate trench- and drill-making operations for two of its 16 subsidiary companies there. They are Case Construction Equipment and Trencor, Inc. The site will also become Trencor’s headquarters.
