"In leaving Insignia, Mary Ann Tighe has shown everything is doable with senior brokers," Herskowitz tells GlobeSt.com. "I'm not sure how healthy it was for the industry, in terms of issues of loyalty and economic sense, but it is groundbreaking."
Herskowitz tells GlobeSt.com that in addition to the brokerage recruitment, he will also be hiring a New York managing director for the firm. Additionally, he will continue to oversee transaction, management and consulting operations in New York City, Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey from the firm's Midtown global headquarters, located at 55 E. 59th St.
Herskowitz joined Grubb & Ellis one year ago as senior vice president and managing director of the New York Tri-State region. He tells GlobeSt.com he was groomed for his current title by Ray O'Keefe, who in October of last year moved into Grubb & Ellis' international department. "I guess you could say I've finally earned my own job," he says.
Previously, he served as the executive managing director of Newmark & Co. Real Estate, Inc. for four years, where he was responsible for managing company brokerage and support divisions, as well as overseeing the firm's expansion and acquisition programs.
"We are confident in his ability to bring the same kind of talent and dedication to our New York regional operations," says Barry Barovick, president and CEO of Grubb & Ellis.
