New Grubb EVP Negotiating With Six Senior Brokers

NEW YORK CITY-Now that his promotion is official, Joel S. Herskowitz is in talks with six senior brokers as possible additions to the firm. He tells GlobeSt.com that Mary Ann Tighe's defection to CBRE last month opened the door for high-level brokerage headhunting.

NEW YORK CITY-Nine months after taking the interim position at Grubb & Ellis, Joel S. Herskowitz has been formally named EVP and regional managing director for the New York region. He tells GlobeSt.com he is spearheading negotiations with six senior brokers for positions at the firm, and that such an undertaking would have been unthinkable before Mary Ann Tighe’s defection to CBRE earlier last month.

“In leaving Insignia, Mary Ann Tighe has shown everything is doable with senior brokers,” Herskowitz tells GlobeSt.com. “I’m not sure how healthy it was for the industry, in terms of issues of loyalty and economic sense, but it is groundbreaking.”

Herskowitz tells GlobeSt.com that in addition to the brokerage recruitment, he will also be hiring a New York managing director for the firm. Additionally, he will continue to oversee transaction, management and consulting operations in New York City, Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey from the firm’s Midtown global headquarters, located at 55 E. 59th St.
