Fleet Signs Deals for Branches, ATM Centers

NEW YORK CITY-Known for its unmistakable green signage and the sleek décor of its branch banks, FleetBoston Financial Corp. has just signed four new Manhattan leases. As part of its ongoing $22-million expansion program, the bank will open two branch locations and two remote ATM Centers by year’s end.

Both branch offices have 10-year lease terms. They include a 5,300-sf storefront location across the street from Macy’s at the Herald Center, 1293 Broadway, a portion of which was formerly part of a Toys R’ Us store; and 1775 Broadway at 57th Street, totaling 3,200 sf, which used to be the home of Coliseum Books. Asking rents were $250 per sf at Herald Center and $300 per sf at the Broadway property.

The remote ATM Centers are 599 Lexington Ave., a 1500-sf space to accommodate four ATM’s under a 10-year lease, and 2301 Broadway at West 83rd Street, consisting of 750 sf, which will house two ATM machines under an eight-year commitment. Asking rents at 599 Lexington are $225 per sf and $200 at 2301 Broadway.
