The retail center will include a new concept called Quick Stuff for the San Diego-based Jack-in-the-Box, a co-branded gas station and fast-food restaurant, according to Andy Besing of Hill-Granados Retail Partners LP of San Antonio. The operation will have six gas pumps and a drive-through facility for the restaurant. The Texas metropolises are longstanding test markets for new concepts by established names and newcomers of the retail industry. Jack-in-the-Box has more than 1,800 restaurants in 17 states, mostly in the West and Southwest, but it's been edging into southeastern markets in recent years.

San Pedro Towne Center's first phase consists of 21,000 sf in a single-building, Besing, the leasing agent for the center, tells GlobeSt.com. He expects a lineup of community service-type tenants for the first phase, with soft goods retailers targeted for a second phase. Situated at 7142 San Pedro Ave., the development will be sitting on land once housing a Kmart store. It's also well positioned in one of San Antonio's hottest retail markets, rising near NorthStar Mall in the north central submarket.
