The original plan was to sell off some 60 acres of park and sports fields adjacent 25 schools that would then be developed for residential or commercial use, depending on zoning. Many residents of affected neighborhoods oppose the plan. Others simply want to make sure some thought has gone into which properties will be sold and what the consequences will be to the surrounding neighborhoods.

The schools board finance committee will revise its surplus property policy and present it to the board on Sept. 9. The policy will be put up for adoption by the board on Oct. 14.
