GlobeSt.com UPDATE: LMDC Launches WTC Design Competition; Revises Guidelines

NEW YORK CITY-The agency charged with overseeing the redevelopment of Lower Manhattan, stung by the harsh reception of its first efforts, goes back to square one with an RFQ for five new planning teams and a laundry list of new design goals.

NEW YORK CITY-The Lower Manhattan Development Corp., reacting to blistering criticism of its first six Lower Manhattan land-use proposals, will add five more planning teams to the mix and a new set of redevelopment guidelines, the city-state agency revealed at a press conference earlier today.

New York Visions, a coalition of 21 architecture, engineering, planning, landscape architecture and design organizations will advise the LMDC in selecting the five new teams. A request for qualifications will be released on Monday with responses due by Sept. 16. The teams will be selected on Sept. 30.
