The law firm is expanding its practice and will be moving its headquarters in December from 3130 Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica to the 14th and 15th floors of the 313,000-sf Westwood Center office tower at 1100 Glendon Ave., which is owned by Los Angeles-based Arden Realty.

Liner Yankelevitz Sunshine & Regenstreif, established in 1996, has grown from four attorneys when it was founded to nearly 60 today.

Stuart Liner, general partner at the firm, said it looked for new quarters for two years, considering dozens of office buildings before choosing.

Although plenty of office space is available on the Westside of Los Angeles and downtown, Liner tells GlobeSt.com that downtown was not an option and that much of the space on the Westside did not suit the firm.

"We were somewhat limited in our choices on the Westside, considering the block of space we wanted and our requirements on how we wanted to be able to build it out," he said.

Liner tells GlobeSt.com the law firm will be moving out of 26,000 sf in Santa Monica. The firm has grown because a number of its practice areas are very busy, he tells GlobeSt.com. "We do a lot of entertainment and real estate and business litigation and bankruptcy, and we've been lucky that our real estate transactional work has increased by about 30% this year," he says.

Liner says the firm's new space will include about 5,000 sf more than it needs initially, but he expects it will fill that space fairly soon as its business grows.

Liner Yankelevitz was represented by Blake Mirkin of CB Richard Ellis and Hunt Barnett of Insignia/ESG. Arden Realty was represented internally by Gayle Landes.

Besides its headquarters here, Liner Yankelevitz has an office in San Francisco. The firm's specialties include litigation, entertainment litigation, business, real estate and finance transactions, bankruptcy, and tax and estate planning. Its clients include large institutions as well as small businesses and individual entrepreneurs, among them Skechers USA, California State Teachers' Retirement System, State Street Global Advisors and International Creative Management.

Westwood Center was built in 1965. Arden bought the skyscraper in 1988 for $34 million, then gutted and renovated it in a year-long project that was completed in January 2000.
