Food Distributor Commits to $22M Plant Expansion

SALEM, VA-Columbia, MD-based US Foodservice increases the size of its Roanoke County distribution center at 1025 Electric Rd. with the planned $22-million addition of three new buildings. The expansion will increase the facility’s size from 275,000 sf to 400,000 sf and will provide about 200 new jobs for local residents.

“This investment demonstrates again that Virginia’s East Coast location continues to be a major draw for distribution centers representing a variety of industries,” says Gov. Mark R. Warner. State officials campaigned for the expansion to remain in the area and beat out Maryland, North Carolina and Tennessee to serve as the location for the multi-million dollar project.
