Called Project Restore, the program is designed to rid Cendant of substandard quality hotels as well as franchisees that have defaulted on fee payments. The first 300 properties were notified of the decision last week.

Cendant hotel group brands include Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, Knights Inn, Villager, Wingate Inn and AmeriHost Inn.

Check GlobeSt.com tomorrow for details of the plan as well as an interview with Cendant hotel group chairman and CEO Steve Rudnitsky.
