DETROIT-The Detroit Empowerment Zone Development Corp.’s Innovation Fund will award 50 organizations, including a few community development groups, more than $6 million in the next two years. The award was announced by the Detroit-based, public-private corporation, which is dedicated to encouraging businesses and residential development into certain areas of Downtown.
The city’s Empowerment Zone provides tax incentives for new and expanding businesses and developments in areas of stagnant or reversed growth.
Fifty non-profit organizations were selected for the recent award. The organizations, a few that encourage new single-family and multifamily developments, will serve residents in the east, central and southwest sections of the Empowerment Zone.
