Westerville, OH receives two grants totaling $877,909. About half of the total, $431,820, will buy 12 acres of the Mariner's Cove wetland in order to extend a boardwalk and link it to a proposed bike trail. Another $446,089 will buy 41 acres along Big Walnut Creek.
New Albany receives $600,000 to buy more than five acres to stem erosion near Rose Run Creek and preserve wildlife habitats there.
The Columbus, OH Parks and Recreation Dept. receives $478,100 to buy 47 acres near the city. To further protect acreage surrounding the city, the Columbus Metropolitan Park Board obtains $500,000 to purchase 140 acres near Blacklick Creek and $250,000 for additional land near Big Darby Creek.
