Dako Corp.'s Carpinteria operation is the U.S. subsidiary of Dako, an international medical diagnostics company with headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company produces an array of products and medical testing kits used in diagnosing cancer and other diseases, including related medical instruments and services.

Ed DeLacy of CB Richard Ellis tells GlobeSt.com that the purchase will enable Dako to expand in Carpinteria, where it already occupies a leased building of almost 20,000 sf, a building it owns of nearly 20,000 sf, and about 24,000 sf of leased space in two other buildings. The building Dako bought is a concrete tilt-up structure that was built in 1984, including about 22,000 sf of two-story space and the rest single-story. The building was empty at the time of the sale and Dako expects to move in within a few months after some remodeling, DeLacy says.

Besides DeLacy, the CB Richard Ellis brokers, who represented the buyer and the seller, included Paul Gamberdella, Paul Farry, Doug Shae, Jim Meaney and Indira Rodriguez.
