The building will have two floors of office space over two levels of parking and will house the foundation's offices. The organization lobbies for public school and higher education retirees.
Reh Burwell Partners in partnership with Development 2000 is designing the building, which will incorporate large-scale masonry units, red granite and standing seam metal roofing.
The foundation's current offices are at 406 E. 11th St., the same address as the Texas Association of School Administrators. The building's proximity to the capitol offers officials easy access to stage agencies and legislators.
The foundation is following the lead of the Texas Association of Counties, also constructing its own building. The association's 95,000-sf building is under construction at San Antonio and 13th streets, west of the capitol.
