Round Rock Developer Gets Serious About $27M Medical Facility

ROUND ROCK, TX-Scott & White says it's time to move on the medical facility after sitting on the land for five years. The 77,000-sf Scott & White Center will break ground in June 2003, promising to deliver 150 community jobs when it's done.

ROUND ROCK, TX-Five years after buying 75 acres for a Round Rock medical facility, Scott & White has given the project a green light. The Temple, TX-based health-care organization said it will build the 77,000-sf Scott & White Center for Diagnostic and Specialty Care on the site at Interstate 35 and Chandler Road in the city’s north quadrant.

The project could cost $27 million, according to Scott & White officials. The move is the latest in a series of multi-million dollar medical expansions under way in the Austin area as health-care providers try to keep up with the growing population.

The Scott & White center is expected to open in late 2004. The company is in the process of hiring an architect and then will hire a general contractor for the project. Construction is to begin in June 2003.
