LONDON-Vauxhall Motors, the UK arm of General Motors, is in exclusive negotiations to sell its Luton factory to Heron International and Latimer Associates for redevelopment.

The 55 acre site could become one of the biggest schemes in England. Heron and Latimer want to demolish the 2.5 million sq ft of existing factories and replace them with offices and homes.

The proposals have yet to get planning consent but Luton has been earmarked to absorb a significant proportion of housing demand in the south-east.
