AUSTIN-A chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women Network is being organized in Austin. The organization is drawing women involved in many facets of real estate from brokers to lawyers, title company representatives to State of Texas officials.

“We don't really have a women's organization that would foster relationships and networking concentrated on the real estate industry (in Austin),” says Jinny Hines, a broker with CB Richard Ellis Inc. in Austin. She tells GlobeSt.com that the members also will benefit from the organization's national scope. “You can have business opportunities with other women across the country and Canada,” she says. The CREW Network has more than 40 chapters.

The group has already elected officers and a board of directors. It will submit an application to the national CREW organization in January 2003, one of the two times a year applications are accepted.

The Austin officers are president, Sue Gravett, Henry S. Miller Commercial; president-elect, Sue Runnells, Flock Report; secretary, Jane Snoddy-Smith, Fulbright & Jaworski; and treasurer, Rhonda White, West Commercial. Board members are Shelly Jewett, Akin Gimp Strauss Hauer & Feld; Anita Dabney, State of Texas General Land Office; Jinny Hines, CB Richard Ellis; Kathy Carr, Commercial Texas; Ann Vandenburg, Hurst & Vandenburg; Diann Cowling, Quick & Co.; Donna Ripley, Landmark Associates; and Nicki Tyler, Stewart Title.
