McLaren joined the company in 1972 as an estimator with Midwest Concrete Industries, a division of the firm located in Des Moines, IA. He moved to Phoenix in 1980 after being promoted to chief estimator. In 1999, he was promoted to vice president chief estimator of the Southwest division. One year later, he was named vice president of estimating and pre-construction.

In his new role, McLaren will be responsible for overseeing the estimating and preconstruction services for all divisions as well as the preparation of conceptual and detail estimates. He will also coordinate with division and corporate estimators, compile historical data cost and solicit and receive subcontractor proposals.

A member of the national American Society of Professional Estimators committee, McLaren served as the Arizona chapters former president and vice president and was national treasurer for ASPE from January 1994 through August 1998. The ASPE Arizona Chapter 6 named him Estimator of the Year in both 1997 and 2000.
