Former Wal-Mart Fetches $10M

STERLING, VA-The former 120,000-sf Wal-Mart Store on Columbia Place has been sold by the discount retailer’s real estate division to Brighton Columbia Place LLC in a $10 million deal. Built in 1993, the structure occupies an 18-acre plot and is currently assessed at a value of $10.5 million. KLNB Inc. brokered the deal and has already leased the space to Wegmans Food Markets, which plans open its doors next year.

Located at Route 28 and Waxpool Road in Loudoun County, the retail site–home to Best Products before Wal-Mart took occupancy–will get a makeover that will bring the structure’s size up to 130,000-sf. The opening will mark Wegmans’ debut in the state of Virginia.
