Encompassing 973,000 sf, the development consists of a 14-story, 450,000-sf hotel, an adjoining two-story, 523,000-sf casino and a 16,000-sf central plant. The project was developed by the Pechanga Development Corp. for the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians.

The 522-room hotel boasts 63 luxury suites and an elevated pool surrounded by a 12,000-sf deck, while the casino features six restaurants, a fully outfitted gaming area and a 1200-seat performing arts center. According to a company spokesperson, the aim of the project was to build a facility including "all the amenities of Las Vegas, without the glitz." It was designed by San Diego-based Architects Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker and constructed by the Perini Building Co. of Phoenix, AZ.

The project was originally designed to encompass 130,000 sf, but after the foundation was set and the steel delivered, the tribe called construction to a halt. More than 18 months later, a new general contractor joined the project and design planswere modified and expanded, which resulted in the newly completed 973,000-sf Pechanga Resort and Casino.
