The general contractor won an Eagle Award for excellence from the Florida East Coast chapter of the Associated Builders & Contractors Inc. for its work at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Miller's Healthcare Group won the Eagle in the Institutional Construction Under $5 Million category for the $3 million, 12,000-sf, cylindrical chapel at the hospital.

For the project, Miller specified structural steel with a lath and stucco exterior. The contractor used 32 skylights on the roof's perimeter and put space around the suspended ceiling to make it appear to float.

The project's architect was Hardaway & Associates of Wellesley, MA. The chapel project will advance to the ABC National Excellence in Construction Awards competition at the 2003 national convention in San Diego.
