Giant Opens Fifth Store in District

WASHINGTON, DC-Giant Food Inc has announced it will open the doors of its fifth location in the District during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new 53,200-sf store at 1050 Rhode Island Avenue next week. Already, the full-service market is an economic boon to the area, as it has brought in a bevy of new jobs.

“We committed to hire the majority of the staff from the local neighborhood and we have hired over 100 individuals from within the Brentwood community to work in our new store,” Giant president and CEO Dick Baird notes. “In addition, the store was constructed under an agreement we signed with the city so that a majority of the construction workforce was comprised of local contractors from within the District of Columbia.”
