Shapiro has 10 years' experience in the commercial real estate financial industry. Before joining Aztec, he was vice president of Coral Gables, FL-based Thomas D. Wood & Co. Mortgage Bankers. There he was responsible for the origination and placement of long-term, income property loans for domestic life insurance companies.
In 1996, Shapiro was named top individual producer in the nation for one of the firm's correspondent life insurance companies. At Thomas D. Wood & Co., Shapiro closed more than 100 commercial real estate financing deals, according to a prepared statement from Aztec.
