$43M Marriott Marks Four Fires LLC Debut

WASHINGTON, DC-A new $43 million hotel–the Marriott Residence Inn Capitol–is in the works in the city’s southwest section thanks to the recent establishment of a partnership of American Indian organizations, the Delaware-incorporated Four Fires LLC. The 233-room hotel marks Four Fires’ first step toward its goal of gradually diversifying American Indians’ income resources beyond reservation-based gaming endeavors. The property is scheduled to make its debut just in time for the 2004 opening of the $220 million National Museum of the American Indian, which will sit just a few blocks away from the hotel.

Marriott Residence Inn will be a 13-story structure of suites, and will have the requisite Residence Inn brand amenities including 2,400 sf of meeting space, a sub-level parking garage for 100 vehicles, a business center and a fitness facility. Metropolitan Washington’s The Donohoe Companies and Hospitality Partners are developing the project jointly with Four Fires members from the Forest County Potawatomi Community of Wisconsin, Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin, and California-based San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, and Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians.
