Tom Senkbeil, who joined the company as president and chief operating officer in 1999, has resigned for other investment and development opportunities, according to the firm's prepared statement.
The statement says Senkbeil will remain as an investor in several existing company equity developments and consult on the firm's Progress Energy headquarters, currently under way in Raleigh, NC.
Peterson joined Carter in May 2001 as executive vice president of brokerage and corporate services. He founded and operated his own firm, Peterson Properties, for 17 years before selling it to Washington, DC-based CarrAmerica in 1996 for $130 million. He remained with CarrAmerica, first as managing director and later as president, until March 1999.
At CarrAmerica, Peterson was responsible for $1 billion in development activity throughout the U.S.
In the statement, Mitchell credits Peterson's success to a "client-focused approach to business that exemplifies Carter's philosophy and culture," and also says he will "play an integral role in guiding Carter & Associates through the market's challenging cycle."
Senkbeil also once founded and operated a company of his own, Senkbeil & Associates, which later merged into locally based R. Weeks & Associates. Weeks later affiliated with Indianapolis, IN-based Duke Realty.
In his same statement, Mitchell says Senkbeil has been "instrumental in assuring Carter's profitability during these turbulent times."
