WorkPlace USA Bests 10 for State Contract

SAN ANTONIO-The highly sought project management contract goes from demolition of a 50-year-old infectious disease hospital in San Antonio to delivery of its replacement. The team is ramping up for a two-year project.

SAN ANTONIO-The Texas Building and Procurement Commission has awarded Dallas-based WorkPlaceUSA a contract to provide project management services for the design and construction of a state-of-the-art replacement hospital for the Texas Center for Infectious Disease.

Don Altwein, senior vice president for Dallas-based WorkPlace USA’s project management, tells GlobeSt.com that the company currently is overseeing the removal of asbestos at the old San Antonio hospital and will begin demolition soon on the 50-year-old building. Ground-breaking on a two-story, 65,000-sf, 75-bed medical facility will begin in first quarter at 2303 SE Military Dr. on the Texas Department of Health campus.

The project will take about two years to complete. The cost of the building project remains undetermined, Altwein said.
