Brown comes to Insignia/ESG after spending a year at GVA Williams as a managing director of corporate services. A 26-year veteran of the commercial brokerage trade, Brown is perhaps most well known for operating his own commercial real estate firm C.S. Brown Partners in New York City from 1980-1988. He formed the firm after entering the real estate business as an owner's representative with Edward S. Gordon, one of the predecessor companies that now make up Insignia/ESG.

In his position with Insignia/ESG, Brown will coordinate the delivery of services to meet the multi-market real estate needs of corporations both domestically and globally. The Weston, CT. resident will primarily focus on companies with headquarters operations or firms that maintain major presences in Westchester County, NY and Connecticut, according to I/ESG officials.

Over the span of his career, Brown has represented such firms as Condé Nast Publications, Elizabeth Arden, Citibank and Mass Mutual Life Insurance in leasing and sales transactions valued at more than $2 billion.

Prior to joining Insignia/ESG, Brown held managing director positions at both GVA Williams and The Staubach Company in New York City, where he oversaw all aspects of corporate real estate services including transaction management, lease administration and facilities analysis. Prior to that, Brown was a director of leasing for The Parish of Trinity Church in New York City. In that position, he represented the church in numerous lease transactions and was a central participant in its successful effort to reposition its six-million-sf Manhattan commercial property portfolio to office use from light manufacturing, according to Insignia/ESG.

In addition to operating C.S. Brown Partners, in 1988 he also incorporated Space Data Graphics Systems Inc.; the first computerized listings database service for commercial properties in the New York Region. That company is now part of the Costar Group Inc.
