Exterior Construction Complete on 1M-SF Courts Bldg.

NEW YORK CITY-The downtown Brooklyn renaissance has reached yet another symbolic plateau with the topping out of Forest City Enterprises’ 330 Jay St., a 1.1 million-sf public building located directly across Jay street from the 16-acre MetroTech Center complex, another Forest City project.

“330 Jay Street is a vital component of MetroTech Center, which has proven to be a major catalyst in generating thousands of new jobs and bringing scores of businesses to the heart of downtown Brooklyn,” says Charles A. Ratner, president and chief executive officer of Forest City Enterprises. “We look forward to achieving further milestones in the development and to opening this new building for our tenants, who provide vital services to the people of Brooklyn, New York City, and the state of New York.”

The final steel beam was hoisted 473 feet to complete exterior construction on the 32-story building, which is due for completion in spring 2005. The property eventually will house the new facilities of the New York State Supreme Court, the Kings County Family Court, several city and state agencies and 170,000 sf of office space.
