Greenridge Narrows Site Search for Environmental Remediation Facility

LUNENBURG COUNTY, VA-Greenridge Environmental Corp. has committed to investing $9.5 million in establishing its environmental remediation firm at a location to be chosen within the area. The company has not decided on a specific site yet, but Jill Lawrence of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership tells GlobeSt.com that Greenridge is “looking for an existing building and will settle on one of two identified properties in the county.”

Greenridge has not specified the amount of space it will require for the new operation, but the company will hire about 165 new employees to fill engineering technician and skilled machinery operator positions. “Virginia is ideally located on the eastern seaboard to service the many environmentally challenged properties close to waterways and harbors,” company president Ron Walmer says of the decision to locate in the state. Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Ontario, Canada had been on the list of possible sites. “This central location allows us to easily commute to most locations on the East Coast. We believe Lunenburg County provides us with the employee base necessary to form the highest level workforce available.”
