The city proposed another site for the estimated $90 million courthouse, at Andrews Avenue and Northwest Second Street, but the federal government worried about the nearby county bus terminal, among other issues.
The city proposed to donate 2 1/2 acres for the courthouse there, but federal officials say that is not nearly enough and that a courthouse project would need more than double that size.
The federal government now is considering other sites, including the Florence C. Hardy Park site at South Andrews Avenue and Southwest Seventh Street.
