Located at 2 Castle Hill Ave., the $5-million structure will sit on a six-acre parcel. Designed by Donald Blair Architects, it replaces an existing 7,500-sf building on the site that will be turned into a full-time teen center. The new building will include a 25-foot glass lobby wall, a six-lane swimming pool, computer center, classrooms and a health and wellness center. The indoor pool will directly access a canopy-covered outside deck and a separate underground locker-room facility designed to accommodate the large summer camp program operated by the Bronx YMCA.

The New York YMCA is spending $150 million to upgrade 16 existing neighborhood YMCA branches in the five New York City boroughs and build up to three new facilities. The construction is being funded through a $50-million Capital Campaign for Kids, more than $14 million in government grants and $86 million from other sources.

Leading the Capital Campaign for Kids fundraising effort on behalf of the YMCA is Stephen B. Siegel, chairman and chief executive officer of Insignia/ESG. Siegel was honored last night at the annual Real Estate and Construction Gala for his efforts on behalf of the New York Special Olympics.
