Bronx YMCA Developing 23,000-SF Facility

NEW YORK CITY-The latest project in the YMCA of Greater New York’s $150-million Capital Redevelopment Program is a 23,000-sf facility in the southeast section of the Bronx. The new building is scheduled for completion in spring 2003.

Located at 2 Castle Hill Ave., the $5-million structure will sit on a six-acre parcel. Designed by Donald Blair Architects, it replaces an existing 7,500-sf building on the site that will be turned into a full-time teen center. The new building will include a 25-foot glass lobby wall, a six-lane swimming pool, computer center, classrooms and a health and wellness center. The indoor pool will directly access a canopy-covered outside deck and a separate underground locker-room facility designed to accommodate the large summer camp program operated by the Bronx YMCA.
