SUGAR LAND, TX-The $54-million Sugar Land Marriott, the first full-service hotel to rise in Fort Bend County, will top off at nine stories in mid-November. The 300-room is the first Texas venture for its developer, Crestline Hotels & Resorts Inc. of Virginia.

The hotel will open doors in fall 2003. In keeping with the business plan, the topping off will herald the start of convention bookings. The hotel is adjacent to the two-story Sugar Land Conference Center.

Cooper Carey Inc. of Atlanta is the architect and W.D.G. of Dallas is the interior designer. The hotel and convention center are part of a $200-million, mixed-use town square project that’s now under construction.
