American Property Management Corp. purchased the 180-room Rio Rico Resort Hotel and Country Club, located south of Tucson, for an undisclosed sum from Rio Rico Properties Inc. in a sale that gave the new owners four championship, lighted tennis courts and a junior Olympic swimming pool along with an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
The golf course, the property's crown jewel, was recently ranked second in the state for public golf courses by Arizona Business Magazine and frequently served as the PGA qualifier course for the Phoenix Open. The magazine also ranked the Four-Diamond Award-winning resort as the top small resort in Arizona for the past five years.
Stan Kozlowski, vice president of Neptune Hospitality Advisors Inc., of San Diego, assisted in the acquisition. Telephone calls for additional information on the deal were not returned by press time.
