Weekend sales of one-bedroom units to 73 families totaled $25.3 million, bringing year-to-date revenue of $80 million and running up total sales of $320 million to 700 families since the 1,000-acre project was first announced in June 1999.
The condos are being built in identical 10-story towers on the north and south wings of the Hammock Beach Club, the 12-story oceanfront high-rise nearing completion at the center of Hammock Beach.
Jeff Davis, a principal at Ginn Co., isn't entirely surprised at the sales surge because of the project's strategic location. "Hammock Beach is located on one of the last major tracts of undeveloped oceanfront on Florida's East Coast, with 2.4 miles of beach frontage," Davis says in a prepared statement.
The weekend Hammock Beach sales topped the $23 million, March weekend sales of 73 units at Yacht Harbor Village, another nearby Ginn Co. condo project.
A developer for 30 years, Bobby Ginn's other condo and townhome undertakings are in suburban Charleston, SC where the 6,000-acre, 600-unit River Towne Country Club is being developed, along with Wild Dunes and Dunes West; Tesoro on the west coast of Florida; the 2,130-acre Reunion Resort and Club, two miles south of Walt Disney World; and the 799-lot Pine Island in Lake County, FL.
