SAN FRANCISCO-The San Francisco supervisors voted 10-1 yesterday evening to approve the seventh and final member of the city’s Planning Commission, which had been without a quorum for several months and has not met since June.

City Administrator Bill Lee will fill the slot. Mayor Willie Brown proposed Lee for the powerful commission after months of disputes over other candidates. Only Supervisor Matt Gonzalez voted against Lee.

Until this spring, the mayor appointed all seven commissioners. But with Measure D’s passage, supervisors won the authority to name three and also to accept or reject the mayor’s four picks. This summer, with at least one of those four in doubt for approval, Brown yanked all his nominees and the Planning Commission was left with too few members for a quorum.
