"The assignment was extremely challenging," Advantis/GVA's Bruce McNair tells GlobeSt.com. "Sonic's goal was to acquire approximately two to three acres fronting on Rockville Pike between Old Georgetown Road on the south, to Shady Grove Rd. on the north. There are less than a handful of sites that meet those criteria and could be developed for an auto dealership."
Ford Leasing and Development Co. was the property's previous owner, having acquired the parcel in 1986 for $2 million. The plot's current assessed value is about $2.9 million.
