The privately owned fast food firm signed a franchise development agreement with father and son restaurateurs, William and Joseph Leto, to build the new free-standing restaurants but have not yet selected the locations, Del Taco's Barbara Caruso tells GlobeSt.com. The Letos currently operate several Denny's restaurants in the Tucson area.

Caruso said the company is currently scouting for locations in the Tucson area and expects construction of the restaurants to be completed within five years. The company currently operates two Del Taco restaurants in Tucson at 1530 W Grant Rd. and 840 E Broadway Blvd.

The Tucson expansion is part of a major push by the firm to unveil 200 new Del Taco restaurants throughout the US, Caruso said. The company, the second largest Mexican restaurant chain in the country, currently operates or franchises more than 400 fast-food restaurants nationwide.
