Arlington, Va.-based Mills is the majority owner of the newest mall in the metro area. Local developer Greg Stevinson, whose family has owned the 110-acre site for almost three decades, is a minority owner, but he also kept architectural control.
Mills typically opens its giant malls at the edge of cities and the cities grow around them, Stevinson notes. But Colorado Mills is an nfill development and needs the added touches to make it work, he says.
It's not just Stevinson saying that.
Ramsey Meiser, vice president and director of development for Mills, agrees with Stevinson. In fact, so much extra money was spent on architectural touches not found in typical Mills' malls, that they may not be incorporated into new ones, he says.
Colorado Mills includes dozens of high-end boutiques anchored by Last Call Clearance from Neiman Marcus, the retailer's first location in Colorado and Off 5tTh Sakes Fifth Avenue.
Other retailers opening their doors for the first time in Colorado include: Tod's, St. John Outlet, St. Croix Outlet, Kenneth Cole New York Outlet, Strasburg Children, Optica, Nambe Outlet.
In addition, other high-fashion boutiques include: Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Hanne Andersson Outlet, Nautical Outlet, Perry Ellis Outlet, Tommy Hilfiger Outlet, Ann Taylor Factory Store, Chico's Outlet, Arden B. Outlet, Le Creuset Outlet, and Overhand Sheep Skin Co.
The mall, which opens 93% leased, also includes a total of 200 stores, including Eddie Bauer Outlet, Skechers, Gart Sports, Off Broadway Shoes, The Children's Place Outlet, Bath & Body Works, Levi's/Dockers, Anchor Blue/Anchor Kids, Mikasa Factory Store, and a California Pizza Kitchen.
