$300M Colorado Mills Opens 93% Leased

LAKEWOOD, CO-Bucking its own corporate trend, Arlington, Va.-based Mills Corp. opens a 1.2-million-sf in-fill project along West Colfax Avenue, near West 6th Avenue, rather than building on the edge of cities ahead of development.

LAKEWOOD, CO-The Mills Corp. today opens its 1.2 million-sf, $300-million high-end, value retail store in this city 10 miles west of Denver at the edge of the foothills. The mall opens along West Colfax Avenue, near West 6th Avenue.

Arlington, Va.-based Mills is the majority owner of the newest mall in the metro area. Local developer Greg Stevinson, whose family has owned the 110-acre site for almost three decades, is a minority owner, but he also kept architectural control.

Mills typically opens its giant malls at the edge of cities and the cities grow around them, Stevinson notes. But Colorado Mills is an nfill development and needs the added touches to make it work, he says.
