Miami-Dade School District Forms Construction Committee

MIAMI-The Miami-Dade school district is planning to form an advisory committee to better organize its construction department. The committee will include seven to nine volunteer private-sector developers, architects and engineers who do not work with the school district. State oversight board chairman Ed Easton and district superintendent Merrett Stierheim announced the committee plans. The committee will review the school district’s procedures for construction then recommend ways for the district to build and renovate schools more efficiently. Its formation comes after recent criticism that the district has used land inefficiently. The new advisors are expected to be selected within the next month.
