The new building is located in 65,000 sf of the former Omni International Mall. The college is going to relocate classrooms, studios and facilities from its Miami campus.
Expediting the process required intense pre-construction planning and design team coordination. "We are utilizing two shifts a day, seven days a week to maintain the schedule," says Chuck Watson, Miller's project manager.
The project includes a new art deco façade to frame the entrance to the building. In addition, the high-tech classrooms and studios feature the latest in audio-visual teaching aides. The new location also will house a gallery, administrative facilities, a student lounge, a café and a snack bar. A 40,000-sf library is also scheduled to be completed next year.
International Fine Arts College, which has current enrollment of 1,100 students, offers associate degree programs in fashion design and fashion merchandising; bachelor's degree programs in computer animation, film, visual arts (graphic design, interior design, painting and photography), visual effects and motion graphics; and a fine arts master's degree in computer animation.
