London Underground Revises Plans for Key North London Site

LONDON-London Underground has produced a revised proposal for the redevelopment of Camden Town underground station in North London, to include offices, shops and apartments, after an earlier scheme was rejected.

LONDON-London Underground is about to lodge a new planning application for the redevelopment of Camden Town station in north London. The district has become an increasingly popular tourist and leisure destination, and the existing station is simply unable to cope with passenger numbers, leading to closures at peak times. LU plans to use office, residential and retail development above the station to finance the project.

This is the second time LU has brought forward proposals for Camden Town Station. In December 2000 London Mayor Ken Livingstone rejected proposals on the grounds that the scale and design of the above-ground development was inappropriate.
