Films Manufacturer Ponies Up $34M to Expand Facility

WYTHE COUNTY, VA-Klöckner Pentaplast of America Inc.-a producer of rigid films for packaging, printing and specialty purposes-has decided to expand its production and storage capabilities with a 70,000-sf addition to its facility in Rural Retreat Industrial Park. Gordonsville, VA-headquartered Klöckner chose Virginia over West Virginia as the location for the $34-million endeavor, which will bring 108 new jobs to the area.

“Their decision to build here is a true testament to the partnership between Klöckner Pentaplast and the state of Virginia,” Virginia Economic Development spokesperson Jill Lawrence tells GlobeSt.com. The company, which is the biggest producer of rigid films in the Americas, has been in Virginia for a quarter century. “Over the years, several of our governors have met with Klöckner officials overseas. It’s an ongoing relationship.”
