Interstate Hotels HQ to Leave DC

WASHINGTON, DC-Interstate Hotels & Resort has decided to say goodbye to its Georgetown digs in the District with the relocation of its headquarters to the neighboring suburb of Arlington, VA. The company recently committed to a 10-year lease on approximately 68,000 sf of in the 200,000-sf building at 4501 N. Fairfax Dr., where space rents range from $34 to $36 per-sf. Interstate will more than double its elbowroom, as its current home at 1010 Wisconsin is only 33,000 sf in size.

“There were primarily two reasons for the move,” Daly Gray’s Jerry Daly tells GlobeSt.com. Daly Gray is Interstate’s public relations firm. “One reason is location,” he says. “The new building is located close to a Metro stop, whereas the current headquarters is not. And it’s also close to one of Interstate’s hotels, which they can then use as training facilities, as well as to host guests that come into the area. And the second reason was pricing. They’re moving from 33,000 sf to nearly 70,000-sf.”
