William Warshauer of Pat O'Brien's, tells GlobeSt.com the company is working with local preservation groups to maintain the historic aspect's of structure's façade and retain the integrity of its historic windows and some limestone walls and other features.
San Antonio has the characteristics Pat O'Brien's seeks in a market, Warshauer says. It has a strong convention business, an active tourist destination and a large Downtown office population.
The restaurant, due to open in March, is situated near the Alamo and in the Downtown's entertainment and restaurant area. It's Pat O'Brien's fifth location overall. It also has restaurants in Orlando, Memphis and Cancun, Mexico.
Meanwhile, a Cheesecake Factory restaurant has opened in the former Arbor movie theater in the Arboretum shopping center in Austin's northwest submarket. The Calabasas Hills, CA-based company began remodeling the structure for the 12,200-sf restaurant earlier this year. The restaurant seats 400 diners.
