PHILADELPHIA-Standing at the top of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art where Rocky warmed up, Gov. Mark Schweiker handed out $43.35 million in state grants to nine of the city’s pet arts projects. Schweiker, who will soon be replaced byformer mayor Ed Rendell in Harrisburg, reportedly is looking to head the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

The museum received $12.5 million, the largest proportion of this round of state funding, for renovations of the main building and an adjacent one. This grant comes on top of an additional $12.5 million in state money, donated to the museum fund by Schweiker earlier this year.

Franklin Institute received $7 million for its ongoing renovation project.
