Israeli Secure ID Co. Opens $10M HQ

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA-Secure identification card manufacturer SafeCard ID Inc. of Israel has chosen Virginia as the home for its $10-million headquarters. SafeCard officials had considered setting up its 20,000-sf shop in other locations before settling on Virginia, which beat out Colorado, Maryland, New York, the UK and Israel for the project. The deciding factor in the selection was a simple and practical one. “The difference was the people,” SafeCard’s Yoram Curiel tells GlobeSt.com. “We find the people here so outgoing. They were trying to do anything in their power to help us get established here.”

The two-story headquarters building is located at 2697 International Parkway in the Parkway Center complex of Oceana Commerce Park. Built in the early ’80s, the structure sits alongside a similarly sized building on a 2.3-acre parcel. SafeCard ID is leasing the facility for an undisclosed amount. And along with the new operation come 55 new jobs. “This area is has a very good pool of employees,” Curiel adds, pointing out the military presence and the pool of former military workers in the area. He says individuals with skills such as those one attains in the military–specifically the maintenance of confidentiality–are exactly what the company needs.
