Industrial Availability Hits 10-Year High

LONDON-Industrial floorspace vacancies have risen to the highest level since 1992. King Sturge's latest Industrial & Distribution Floorspace Today survey reports that available space has increased 5.1% since April 2002.

LONDON-The amount of industrial floorspace available in the UK today has reached 180 million sf, the highest level of space available on the market since 1992. The latest Industrial & Distribution Floorspace Today , report from property consultant King Sturge shows an increase of 5.1% on the previous survey in April 2002.

The difference between 1992 and the current state of the market in 2002 however are caused by different reasons. In 1992, 26% of the amount of space available was on a speculative basis. Today, only 9% is from speculative development, with the rest being second hand space.
