The project is a mixture of duplexes and two- and three-story stacked flat apartments, says Brian Potashnik, president of Southwest Housing. "It's a duplex product and it really has the look and feel of a single-family home," he tells GlobeSt.com.

Situated on a 40 acres at 2800 S. Pleasant Valley Rd., the project features an eight-acre park. "A 40-acre tract in that area is very hard to find," he says. "We worked over a year with the neighborhood to make sure we were building something that met their standards."

Financing for the $25-million project came from the Austin Housing Finance Corp. Like Heatherwilde Villa Apartments, a Southwest Housing project under way in Pflugerville, Pleasant Valley Villas will be restricted to residents who earn 50% of the Austin area's median income.
